A Tribute to founding Director John Caruso (1967-2021)
An Open Letter from Founding TRLL President Chris Kelly
Dear John:
Thank you.
Thank you for joining our Board of Directors when Two River Little League first started. Even though your children were too old to participate in any of the programs offered by TRLL, you thought it was important for your community to get involved in our new organization. Not many people think like that, but you did. As we soon came to find out, that was just the way you were. We were fortunate to have you as part of our board.
Thank you for our debates and conversations about what TRLL needed to do to best serve the youth in our five towns. Your thoughts were always focused on the children and not what was best just for your town. I can still hear you saying, “What can we do to make the kids want to come back next year?” It didn’t matter whether it was about baseball or softball, the regular season or All-Stars….you kept reminding us to do what was best for the entire TRLL community, to make it the best it could be for all of the participants.
Thank you for your generosity. Not only did you donate your time (and lots of it), but you also did not hesitate to contribute financially, like when you helped pay for some of the expenses of the umpires in our first year.
The Lord took you from us way too soon. We will always remember your selfless dedication to our organization. As you watch from Heaven, please remember that your guidance and support helped build a rock-solid foundation so our league can be enjoyed by the youth in the Two River community for years to come.
Thank you, John.
We miss you.
